Day 4 – Preparations

We are getting ready to restart with Insulin again tomorrow. Just returned from a briefing by the vet on the new low dosage and we decided to only test the glucose level every 3 hours instead of every 2! Lets hope for better results this time.

A local pharmacy thinks it is possible to find the tiny syringes through their supplier, so we will find out on Monday if they do manage.

In the meantime we are now going with the 0.5ml syringes and give that a go. What we need for Obi is just 0.01ml and it’ll be a funny thing to get this right…..since it will be our first time tomorrow giving him the shot ourselves.

There is apparently a chance that he will need two shots a day, one in the morning, one in the afternoon, but we truly hope to avoid that!

As we also still have to give him his occasional little apple cider vinegar mix with water for his UTI’s, that keep flaring up. Those might have been the reason for his kidney disease in the first place. The kidneys are really a big concern and at the moment we just hope the new diet will help and stabilize them.

On that note, new recipes are being tested out for chicken dishes to create little treats for in-between!

So, we will take it one day at a time and will get this boy on a new routine and make him feel better!!
